England Coach Tim Southee Uncertain on Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's most recent Test for New Zealand was versus England in the final month of 2024.
England fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is currently evaluating the extent of his role will be at the forthcoming Ashes series in the host nation.
The ex- Kiwi seamer is expected to be available for the opening match due to his participation in the ILT20 competition, which starts on December 2 in the United Arab Emirates.
Southee, 36, took up a position as England's fast bowling consultant in the summer after taking 391 scalps in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.
Commenting as England's squad for the opening of three Twenty20 games against the Kiwis was named, he stated of his availability: "We are still evaluating that at the present time.
"We will determine what happens over the coming days."
English pace icon Broad had stated the Australian team as their "weakest squad since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the contest, which begins on November 21.
"I don't think there's at any time a poor Australian cricket team," he remarked.
"The team's attention is firmly on what we're trying to do. I think the caliber of [the English] side that's going out to Australia is brilliant.
"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
But, prior to the English team travel to Perth for the first Ashes match, they take on New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
